annie's first road trip...to big D.

okay i took my camera and this is the only picture i got. great job mom. but annie did do alot of sleeping on our quick little daytrip. tuesday we went down to dallas to dallas children's hospital. our cousin, emily put us in touch with one of 2 of the foremost specialists in CMV in the country. thank you. thank you to dr.emily. yesterday i quick flashbacks of memories of us when we were little and now how she is hooking us up with a specialist, one of the best specialists for my daughter...wild how life works. God's grace and provision are more wonderful than words.

Dr. Pablo Sanchez was incredible! he is a neonatologist and an infectious disease doctor. so he did 2 different fellowships. this is actually quite rare and then he actually focuses and is quite passionate about helping families who have children born with congenital CMV. he has published countless articles and has and is currently conducting several studies to help current and future children. we really, really like him. mike said he reminded him of a "little" tom ewing. maggie and maddie im sure your getting a clear picture....ha ha. he had this way of smiling while he was talking. not in a weird way but in a really kind and gentle way. first of all the fact that he worked us in to see us immediately was incredible and then he spent over 2.5 hours with us. he remembered details about annie from conversation with emily that truly amazed me. honestly i told him like 3 times that his memory and attention to detail was unpresedented. clearly he is a super brilliant man. but he is so brilliant that he has a way of putting others at ease around him. he was gentle and humble and quick to explain any and all detail and seemed to actually really deeply enjoy doing it. he was super positive about annie. he recommended at this point that we not elect to do any further anti-viral treatment. we obviously we act on his recomendation. he was in agreement with everything dr.steele, at ou medical (the second GI specialist) is doing. he said give her liver time and it will recover. we will continue to believe that God is going to open annie's ears and that she will be able to hear. Dr. Sanchez was so very kind and as we were leaving actually gave me a hug. really? you guys know im a hugger. he also gave me ALL of his phone numbers...his actual personal numbers. he said if you need anything..have any question...you call me. really? who does that? we've seen over 13 doctors over the last 7 weeks. this guy is the best of the best. he said, "i am here to help my patients." we leaving he said, "she is gorgeous. i'd love to see you back in 3-4 months. at this point, you need to go home and enjoy your baby. watch as she grows." we so enjoy annie..she is such an amazingly wonderful precious treasured daughter. we are super grateful to be her mommy and daddy. and yes, we too think she is gorgeous!
