the garden this summer has been fun. we have been getting quite a few tomatoes. our favorites are the tiny sweet yellow cherrie variety we planted. the plant seems to like us too. its so fun to go out daily and have new tomatoes to harvest. the kids have had so much fun with me. our neighbor across the street has been in Beirut visiting family for 5weeks and she asked us to partake of her garden while she was gone...what a major treat! so we have had double harvesting doing on...what could be more fun! there are so many fun lessons that come with gardening. i so enjoy it and find it so therapeutic and spiritually inspiring. the old saying seems true that "one always meets God in the garden" even with our little yellow tomato plant it has been a powerful picture of how things can change daily, almost suddenly as we go out each day to see new plants/new fruit/new growth. what an awesome picture of how it is when we meet with Jesus...He daily changes us, sometimes it can seem suddenly, each new day:)
i really like to look at pictures of the garden from season to season. how they are different. they can be the same type of plants yet with just a slight variance of temperature, water, storms they can take on such differences. what a great picture to me of how the seasons of our life can be much of the same way. its fun to see growth in different seasons of our lives as well. i find myself enjoying talking about gardening with others, what they like to grow, what they find helpful, tips, techniques, challenges...how the deal with them. what a great picture to me of how much fun it is to talk about the Lord with others, what He is speaking to them, how they are responding, what they find helpful, things He has shown them, challenges they are having. and the freedom to plant whatever you want...the skies the limit. sure somethings grow better in better places but you can plant whatever you want in your garden. what an awesome picture of the powerful freedom with the Lord. He gives us such awesome freedom. He gave His very own life that we might experience FREEDOM!
one of our good friends shared a message at our last celebration in June on "planting" seeds of gratitude to reap a harvest of JOY. it was awesome. i would recommend everyone listening to it. http://www.normcom.com/ go to resources. it is the June celebration teaching by Gerod Grigor. Sowing and Reaping is a Kingdom principal....a most powerful Kingdom principal.
so much to learn in the garden:))
